YOU WILL RECEIVE A LINK TO A 288MB .ZIP FILE CONTAINING THE CONTENTS OF THIS DOWNLOAD.

YOU WILL NEED:
1. A program to unzip the file. This comes standard in all computer systems.
2. A PDF reader like Adobe Reader or Windows’ Reader to read the books.

I recommend using a COMPUTER to download, unzip, and read the files. I am not able to troubleshoot tech problems beyond downloading the .zip file.

THIS LISTING IS FOR:
Instant digital download of a curated collection of 35 vintage and antique books, magazine articles, and instruction booklets detailing the history of the Irish lace industry and Irish lace style from the 19th and 20th centuries. This is a great collection not only for lacemaking enthusiasts, but craft historians, history nuts, and lovers of Ireland and Irish culture.

After purchasing this collection you will learn what Irish lace is, how Irish lacemaking began, the different styles of Irish lace, and how to make Irish lace yourself! These books and articles cover different Irish lace schools, including Carrick-ma-Cross, Youghal, and Inishmacsaint, the rise of the Irish lace industry, popular Irish lace designs and patterns, and more.

The PDFs in this collection are all out of copyright and out of print. Some of these books are 100-150+ years old, and these PDFs are scans of the original books. I’ve cleaned them up and enhanced the text as much as possible so as to make them as easy to read as possible. Nevertheless, there may still be marks, discolorations, etc., that came through on the scans.

The majority of the items in this collection are in English, but there are 6 books in French– with AMAZING lace images, so I had to include them!

Making Art

“Making art can feel dangerous and revealing. Making art is dangerous and revealing. Making art precipitates self-doubt, stirring deep waters that lay between what you know you should be, and what you fear you might be.”

― David Bayles, Art & Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking
